SZU Team Wins National Merit Award at the 18th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (CIETAC China Mainland Round)
May 11, 2026

The Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot is a highly influential competition in the field of international investment arbitration. This year’s CIETAC China (Mainland) Preliminary attracted 39 university teams nationwide, with nearly 100 experts from multiple countries serving as arbitrators and 69 mock hearings conducted. Held from April 8 to 12 at Sun Yat-sen University, the competition saw the SZU team win the National Merit Award, with several members also receiving individual honors such as Team Contribution Award and Best Oralist.

Coached by Associate Professor Wang Nan, the SZU team worked with clear role allocation and won recognition from the arbitral panel with excellent oral advocacy and teamwork. This is the School’s third participation in the moot. During preparation, not only did the coach provide full-process guidance, but alumni and former team members also continued the “mentorship” tradition, offering help on legal reasoning and advocacy skills. Though the competition has concluded, the team will reflect and aim higher in future editions.
