Hong Kong Des Voeux Chambers and Shenzhen University Jointly Launch "Des Voeux Law Program" and Hold Opening Ceremony

On March 2, 2024, Hong Kong Des Voeux Chambers (DVC) and Shenzhen University (SZU) jointly launched the "Des Voeux Law Program" and held an opening ceremony at the Lihu Campus. The "Des Voeux Law Program" is a series of public welfare courses donated by DVC for the International Arbitration Law Master's Program jointly developed by SZU and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. The program includes the compulsory course "International Commercial Arbitration" and other specialized courses.

Senior Counsel Wang Mingfeng, Barrister Lu Xuran, and Business Development Director Ms. Wang Weizhen from DVC, along with Dean Xiong Wei, Associate Dean Zhou Wei of the Law School, and representatives of faculty and students from SZU, attended the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Associate Dean Zhou Wei.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Zhou introduced the barristers from DVC who will be teaching the course, as well as the attending guests. He also provided a brief overview of the origins and significance of the collaborative program.

Xiong then highlighted in his speech that DVC has long been ranked as a top-tier leading barristers' chamber by the Chambers Greater China Region Legal Guide. With the assistance of DVC, the Law School will optimize the environment for the cultivation of foreign-related rule of law talents and provide better learning conditions for the cultivation of foreign-related rule of law talents.

Senior Counsel Wang introduced the realistic background of the collaborative course and the prospects of the international arbitration legal market. He expressed high hopes for the students' future career development and offered career advice in the field of international arbitration.

After the speeches, Xiong and Senior Counsel Wang exchanged gifts on behalf of the SZU Law School and DVC, respectively.
