The unveiling ceremony of the Shenzhen University International School of Intellectual Property was held at One Excellence, T1-1906 in Shenzhen on the morning of April 28, 2024. The event was attended by esteemed guests including Professor Li Mingde, Honorary Director of the Intellectual Property Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Jin Kesheng, Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Research Association of the China Law Society, Deputy Director Li Jun of the Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality, Vice President Wang Yongcheng of Shenzhen University, Director Zhang Xuebin of the Intellectual Property Promotion Division of the Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality, along with over sixty experts and scholars from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao.
The unveiling ceremony was chaired by Professor Xiong Wei, Dean of the Law School and Dean of the School of Intellectual Property (International School of Intellectual Property) of SZU.
In the following speech, Vice President Wang expressed that the establishment of the Shenzhen University International School of Intellectual Property will provide support for regional intellectual property talent cultivation and career development. Deputy Director Li stated that the timely establishment of the International School of Intellectual Property based on the School of Intellectual Property is a significant step in adhering to the development path of intellectual property with Chinese characteristics and promoting the growth of Shenzhen's intellectual property sector. Professor Li also emphasized that Shenzhen, with its robust market economy foundation, provides fertile ground for the International School of Intellectual Property, making its establishment highly significant. Professor Jin highlighted that the inauguration of the International School of Intellectual Property represents a new initiative in innovative talent training, and he looks forward to Shenzhen University making a positive and effective contribution to intellectual property protection.
In November 2023, in response to the action plan of the Shenzhen National Intellectual Property Protection Demonstration Construction Program, Shenzhen University decided to establish the International School of Intellectual Property on the foundation of the School of Intellectual Property. This initiative aims to further implement the requirements issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, improve the intellectual property talent training mechanism, and strengthen the cultivation of international intellectual property talents.
